You have to really love either the story or the style of animation to put up with the flashy changes that happen in every single episode. Dark-toned fighting sequences give way to flashes of almost complete white when the fighters are outside during the day fighting a match, it makes the subtitles hard to read while your eyes are adjusting. The violent life of Samurai training and the marriage-like code of honor between Master and student is very realistically portrayed. There is a great deal of nudity, presented in an unapologetic matter of fact “this is simply what happened” way.
